Overview

Image Optimization Studio is a Shopify app that helps merchants optimize their product images for better page speed and SEO. The app provides:

• Lossy image compression with configurable quality
• AI-powered alt text generation using Groq
• Automatic optimization via webhooks
• One-click revert to original images

Features

Image Compression

Our smart compression algorithm reduces image file size by up to 70% while maintaining visual quality. Images are converted to optimized WebP format when supported.

Alt Text Generation

Using advanced AI (Groq LLM), we analyze your product images and generate descriptive, SEO-friendly alt text that improves accessibility and search rankings.

Bulk Processing

Select multiple images and optimize them all at once. The app processes images in parallel for fast results.

Image Optimization

To optimize images:

1. Navigate to the "Optimize Images" page
2. Select images using checkboxes or "Select Unoptimized"
3. Click "Optimize Selected"
4. Wait for processing (typically 2-5 seconds per image)

Each optimization uses 1 credit. You can view savings in the Size column.

Alt Text Generation

To generate alt text:

1. Navigate to the "Alt Text" page
2. Select images that need alt text
3. Click "Generate Alt Text"
4. Review and apply the generated text

Each alt text generation uses 1 credit.

Settings

Configure the following in Settings:

• Compression Quality (1-100): Higher values = better quality, larger files. Default: 80
• Max Width (pixels): Maximum image dimension. Default: 2048
• Auto Image Optimization: Automatically optimize new uploads
• Auto Alt Text: Automatically generate alt text for new images

Billing & Credits

The app uses a credit-based system:

• Free: 5 credits on signup
• Starter: $3.99/month for 100 credits
• Pro: $19.99/month for 2,000 credits
• Business: $49.99/month for 5,000 credits

Credits refresh monthly on your billing date.

Webhooks & Auto-Optimization

When auto-optimization is enabled, the app listens for Shopify webhooks:

• products/update - Triggered when product images change
• products/create - Triggered when new products are created

New images are automatically queued for optimization and alt text generation.
